Designed to jump start Maths lessons and intended as a quick little warm-up for the busy brain - mental maths activities are our go to!

Moving from Literacy to Numeracy requires a change in gear, so quick little activities such as this colour sorting experience is great way to transition from one to the other.

Mental math warm up activities are not meant to be something that will take long to organise or implement - but rather a quick little something for the whole class to warm-up to.

This is also a great time for children to quickly practice and re-cap on learning outcomes that they had explored in pervious lessons, and can sometimes be a great way to focus on content that still requires continued practice, such as; counting, addition, subtraction, place value etc.

Here we have a quick colour sorting experience, where we encouraged our School Readiness children to identify the two colours observed in our book, followed by searching the room for two objects reflecting both colours!
